meatballs in tomato sauce with herbs
Ingredients
- 500 grams 5% minced beef
- 1 tsp sea salt
- Pinch salt & ground black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 Tsp dried mixed herbs Italian
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2tsp tsp paprika
- 1 whole egg
- 1 tsp dried parsley
For the sauce
- 400 Grams tinned chopped tomatoes
- 50 grams tomato paste
- 1 tbs dried oregano
- 1 medium onion diced
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1 medium carrot chopped fine
- 1 stick celery chopped fine
- 1 tbs red wine vinegar
- sea salt and ground black pepper to season
Method

pre heat oven to 200C (fan180C / GAS MARK 6

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

Add all the meatball ingredients together in a large bowl and mix together until completely combined and even.

Make 12 meat balls ( use kitchen scales) each meatball should weigh about 42 grams

Place on baking sheet and bake in the oven for 15 minutes. Use a timer. Remove when timer pings.

While meatballs are baking make the sauce, put all the ingredients for the sauce into a casserole pan and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to a gentle simmer for 25 minutes. Stir occasionally to ensure the sauce doesn’t stick on bottom of the pan.

After 25 minutes remove pan from the heat and blitz the sauce until smooth.

Season with salt and pepper

Add the meatballs to the sauce and warm through for a few minutes

Sprinkle with parsley and serve
