Indian Rice with Onion, Peas, and Cumin (0 syns)
You can use this rice to complement any curry. However, it is flavoursome enough just to eat on its own!

Ingredients
- half an onion - chopped lengthways
- 2 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoon cumin seeds not ground cumin
- 2 cups of frozen peas
- 2 cups basmati rice - washed thoroughly to remove the starch.
Method

Get the pan hot and add fry light.

Add onion and brown off.

Add the cumin seeds and brown off. Stir.

Add the peas, stir and fry for 2 mins.

Add the rice, stir and fry for 2 mins.

Add 3 cups of cold water. Add the 1 tsp of salt

Bring to the boil, then cover with partly closed lid and simmer on low heat for 15 mins. Towards end, pick up a few grains and taste (without burning yourself) - to see if the right consistency has been reached.

All water should be evaporated. Loosen with a fork.
